In this episode, The Bearded Mystic Podcast discusses the 5th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, specifically verses  25-29. Sri Krishna highlights the luminous nature of Brahman is shown in the Sage that sees no matter as their own and they go beyond the trap of duality. Sri Krishna explains how yogis experience eternal happiness by removing all duality in between the mind and Brahman. Arjuna is given a technique for meditation. Sri Krishna gives us the path of true renunciation that we can complete as a householder. By turning within, in the midst of activity, we attain freedom. The purpose of this verse is clear by Sri Krishna that we must find that Brahman is everywhere and everything, every action is in Brahman, and every thought and intention is in Brahman, therefore, wherever there is brahman, there is peace and harmony. Whether there is peace and harmony, joy and prosperity always follow. May every spiritual seeker get peace, joy, and prosperity.

00:01:21.965 --> 00:01:24.695
Let's do a recap of the last episode.

00:01:24.896 --> 00:01:31.236
In the last episode, we discussed the fifth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita specifically verses 20 - 24.

00:01:31.436 --> 00:01:38.394
Sri Krishna explains how the person that is established in the knowledge of Brahman becomes the same in quality as Brahman too.

00:01:38.594 --> 00:01:44.174
They are one and the same, therefore they never get overexcited or overly disappointed.

00:01:44.375 --> 00:01:49.984
Sri Krishna explains how eternal happiness is found in getting the mind united with Brahman.

00:01:50.185 --> 00:02:01.665
Arjuna is also reminded that material pleasures have a finite existence and therefore he must always discern so he doesn't get trapped in the cycle of seeking pleasure continuously.

00:02:01.865 --> 00:02:13.360
Sri Krishna is telling us that we can achieve a steady state of happiness in this life itself, and it can be practically done, if we look into the causes of our desires and our anger.

00:02:13.561 --> 00:02:17.721
Ecstasy and self illumination becomes the way of the Sage.

00:02:17.920 --> 00:02:22.110
They are full of joy, brimming to the top with happiness.

00:02:22.200 --> 00:02:30.034
They understand that they are one and the same in essence as this Brahman, this Pure, Formless, Awareness.

00:02:30.132 --> 00:02:37.852
Today we will be looking at verses 25 to 29 of chapter five., Verse 25.

00:02:38.008 --> 00:02:43.111
Those who have achieved Brahman nirvana go beyond the dualistic logic of matter.

00:02:43.312 --> 00:02:46.102
So their material flaws are all removed.

00:02:46.275 --> 00:02:51.284
They become a Rishi, a Seer enlightened by the luminous nature of Brahman.

00:02:51.485 --> 00:02:56.968
In that enlightened state, they see all living beings as their dearest friend.

00:02:57.169 --> 00:02:58.538
We gonna break this verse up.

00:02:58.739 --> 00:03:07.489
Those who have achieved Brahman nirvana go beyond the dualistic logic of matter, so their material flaws are all removed.

00:03:07.688 --> 00:03:14.408
One thing is being noted here, and we need to keep remembering this, that the Ultimate Reality is non-dual.

00:03:14.658 --> 00:03:16.269
Brahman is non-dual.

00:03:16.468 --> 00:03:17.538
It's oneness.

00:03:17.597 --> 00:03:21.486
There is no two in this matter, and that's what we need to really understand.

00:03:21.486 --> 00:03:23.646
There's no Sri Krishna and the world.

00:03:23.847 --> 00:03:25.257
There's only Sri Krishna.

00:03:25.456 --> 00:03:27.407
There's no Sri Krishna and Brahman.

00:03:27.616 --> 00:03:29.016
There is only Brahman.

00:03:29.197 --> 00:03:30.336
It's one and the same.

00:03:30.537 --> 00:03:35.144
These are different names and forms for the same Formless Awareness.

00:03:35.343 --> 00:03:38.574
That Ultimate Reality is one, indivisible.

00:03:38.774 --> 00:03:48.114
This is something that Sri Krishna establishes in the very first line that this Brahman nirvana goes beyond the dualistic logic of matter.

00:03:48.213 --> 00:03:50.163
So there's no duality in this.

00:03:50.364 --> 00:03:53.734
Once we attain Brahman, we realize there is only Brahman.

00:03:53.933 --> 00:04:02.174
Anyone that experiences duality or separation between themselves and Brahman has not understood the truth even one little bit right now.

00:04:02.373 --> 00:04:08.014
A lot of other commentators do discuss the duality between us and Sri Krishna.

00:04:08.215 --> 00:04:15.194
But I say that if you do this, then it brings the whole Bhagavad Gita into question because then what is higher?

00:04:15.395 --> 00:04:19.675
Sri Krishna talks about Brahman and then at the same time there is Sri Krishna.

00:04:19.925 --> 00:04:31.101
Who is Sri Krishna referring to when he speaks as 'Me', and we've emphasized this in previous verses and episodes that Sri Krishna sees Himself as Brahman itself.

00:04:31.302 --> 00:04:35.482
Now, what's established here also is that there is only Oneness.

00:04:35.682 --> 00:04:45.144
We know that Brahman nirvana is, ' I am Brahman by nature, so none of this matter is mine.' If it's not mine, that means it's not part of me either.

00:04:45.144 --> 00:04:47.084
It has no real substance.

00:04:47.084 --> 00:04:49.834
Remember, this whole Maya is an appearance.

00:04:50.084 --> 00:05:01.834
This prakriti is an appearance within the witness Consciousness, the Purusha or the witness that is Nirguna Brahman, the Attribute-less Ultimate Reality.

00:05:02.035 --> 00:05:09.444
So this yogi is fully detached from material possessions and therefore they no longer see matter as mine and not yours.

00:05:09.685 --> 00:05:14.444
So there's no need for them to be like, Well, whatever I achieve in this world is mine.

00:05:14.644 --> 00:05:20.355
Whatever they achieve in life, they have the intellect and the wisdom to say, this is all Brahman's.

00:05:20.574 --> 00:05:23.694
It's an appearance in Brahman, therefore belongs to Brahman.

00:05:23.894 --> 00:05:25.605
Who am I to own anything?

00:05:25.605 --> 00:05:30.545
Who am I to say that this is mine and possess it as if it is my property?

00:05:30.745 --> 00:05:34.134
So that's the unique aspect here that is discussed.

00:05:34.334 --> 00:05:44.264
By doing this, whatever flaws come in with attachment is dissolved away, it's automatically dissolving because There's no attachment.

00:05:44.264 --> 00:05:49.122
When we are associated and understand that we are Brahman.

00:05:49.322 --> 00:05:57.185
Basically the person will then lose the control of anger, pride, greed, and the continuous seeking of pleasure.

00:05:57.384 --> 00:05:59.855
That's what happens with this individual.

00:06:00.055 --> 00:06:13.884
Then the second line that Sri Krishna talks about, they become Rishi, a sage enlightened by the luminous nature of Brahman in that enlightened state, they see all living beings as their dearest friend.

00:06:14.084 --> 00:06:15.644
This line is really unique.

00:06:15.718 --> 00:06:23.420
First Sri Krishna expresses how such people are rishis and they are people who are enlightened by the luminous nature of Brahman.

00:06:23.420 --> 00:06:28.050
They are completely in the light and bright nature of Brahman.

00:06:28.250 --> 00:06:29.810
Yeah, there is no darkness here.

00:06:29.810 --> 00:06:35.319
Darkness representing ignorance, luminous meaning Gyana, viveka, wisdom.

00:06:35.519 --> 00:06:41.620
Whatever wisdom and light Brahman has, they also share that same light and wisdom.

00:06:41.819 --> 00:06:46.470
In this enlightened state, they see all living beings as their dearest friend.

00:06:46.670 --> 00:06:49.139
Nobody is considered a stranger.

00:06:49.339 --> 00:06:55.783
Now, the interesting thing to note here is that Sri Krishna observes that maybe there's going to be some duality.

00:06:55.992 --> 00:07:00.853
Maybe we are going to see other things in this universe as separate to us.

00:07:00.853 --> 00:07:04.689
So if we do, then we can consider them as a close friend.

00:07:04.899 --> 00:07:13.619
And even if we see the non-dual aspect, because we know it's the same being as I am, that means automatically we are friends with that.

00:07:13.819 --> 00:07:18.139
And therefore, how can fear and desire prosper in such an environment?

00:07:18.168 --> 00:07:19.069
It cannot.

00:07:19.213 --> 00:07:26.213
This is a great way for us to understand how to be, once we attain this Brahm Gyana, the knowledge of Brahman.

00:07:26.413 --> 00:07:32.593
And you'll see that these type of people, they're smiling at others, they're kind, they're genuine, they're honest.

00:07:32.833 --> 00:07:34.062
They're transparent.

00:07:34.262 --> 00:07:37.463
They are exactly what you wanna be in life.

00:07:37.663 --> 00:07:43.572
They are role models for us, and that's why we love to be around the company of sages.

00:07:43.773 --> 00:08:02.192
Now, the context of this whole verse is that Sri Krishna is highlighting the luminous nature of Brahman, and this nature is shown in the Sage that sees no matter as their own, and they go beyond the trap of duality, and they are continuously established in non-duality.

00:08:02.392 --> 00:08:04.447
Now we go to verse 26.

00:08:04.646 --> 00:08:19.036
Those yogis who roam freely throughout the world and who no longer experience kama and krodha, their thoughts controlled and focused only upon their Atman, experience the joy of Brahman nirvana at all times.

00:08:19.117 --> 00:08:21.480
So we are going to look at the verse as a whole here.

00:08:21.680 --> 00:08:24.069
Remember that these yogis are free.

00:08:24.100 --> 00:08:25.060
They are in freedom.

00:08:25.060 --> 00:08:28.839
They're liberated because their heart and mind is open to all.

00:08:29.040 --> 00:08:30.990
They do not see anyone else as separate.

00:08:31.139 --> 00:08:35.600
They see this eternal oneness and remember, they see all as their own.

00:08:35.799 --> 00:08:40.679
And because they see all as their own, they also see the whole world as their home.

00:08:40.879 --> 00:08:42.230
That's the beauty of it.

00:08:42.470 --> 00:08:44.330
They're not divided by nation.

00:08:44.570 --> 00:08:46.269
They're not divided by caste.

00:08:46.346 --> 00:08:54.149
They're not divided by region, they're not divided by a particular nationality or race or religion or anything else.

00:08:54.389 --> 00:08:59.269
They see the whole existence as their own and sees the whole world as their home.

00:08:59.320 --> 00:09:03.546
Now, they don't experience continuous pleasure seeking.

00:09:03.629 --> 00:09:07.278
They will never allow pleasure to overwhelm the mind.

00:09:07.479 --> 00:09:10.658
So that it misses the ever existent bliss within.

00:09:10.869 --> 00:09:25.456
So what happens is when we are chasing desires, we get that momentary happiness, we get a glimpse of bliss, but the glimpse is not enough and we are gonna continuously keep chasing that so we can get that hit of the glimpse of bliss.

00:09:25.655 --> 00:09:40.341
So Sri Krishna here is saying that when we continuously chasing these momentary pieces of, happiness, we actually ignore the ever existent, self existent, continuously being nature of bliss.

00:09:40.542 --> 00:09:46.101
And because they do not keep chasing pleasure and they don't feel that lack of fulfillment.

00:09:46.341 --> 00:09:48.412
They will never react in anger.

00:09:48.611 --> 00:09:53.292
They will never allow anger to cloud their judgment to cloud what is right.

00:09:53.491 --> 00:10:00.942
Now the yogi or the sage keeps their focus on their atman, the changeless aspect of what they are.

00:10:01.142 --> 00:10:03.831
The Atman is real because it does not change.

00:10:03.831 --> 00:10:05.782
It does not age, it does not decay.

00:10:05.981 --> 00:10:08.056
It is not born nor does it die.

00:10:08.206 --> 00:10:09.525
It does not modify.

00:10:09.725 --> 00:10:16.515
Therefore all the thoughts present themselves like clouds and the blue sky is the Atman, that Formless Awareness.

00:10:16.586 --> 00:10:22.865
Awareness or the Atman does not get fascinated by the distinctive qualities of each thought.

00:10:23.066 --> 00:10:28.119
It allows each thought to be and allows it to rest in the presence of Awareness.

00:10:28.155 --> 00:10:30.831
This is a very interesting way of seeing things.

00:10:31.030 --> 00:10:42.081
Now once we are able to control our thoughts, and once we can stay focused on the observer, remember first there's the observer and then the thoughts that are occurring to the observer.

00:10:42.280 --> 00:10:51.994
Now the witness within us, the watcher, is able to see the subtle separation between the true 'me', the true 'I', and the thoughts.

00:10:52.193 --> 00:10:53.033
Then what happens?

00:10:53.038 --> 00:10:57.374
Because we see that thoughts appear and they disappear.

00:10:57.573 --> 00:11:02.964
We know that they are transient, they are changing, and therefore by nature they are Asat.

00:11:03.163 --> 00:11:09.474
But the observer, even with the appearance of thought or with the absence of thought still is.

00:11:09.714 --> 00:11:20.188
Therefore that is our Atman, the true 'I am', that is Nirguna Brahman, that is the Formless Awareness, and that is what is Eternal and Everlasting.

00:11:20.428 --> 00:11:25.078
So we can experience this directly in our own life right now.

00:11:25.139 --> 00:11:35.259
And also thoughts may bring about certain, emotions, certain fears, certain distinctive thoughts that will elaborate on more thoughts.

00:11:35.458 --> 00:11:45.265
But the observer can remain as a watchful self without intervening itself or without being mixed in with the flavor of thoughts.

00:11:45.505 --> 00:11:56.359
It allows itself to be Pure and simple, and that is, it just watches, witnesses without any response required, without any fruits required.

00:11:56.558 --> 00:11:59.369
It remains eternal and stable.

00:11:59.568 --> 00:12:03.469
And once we can rest in that awareness, we feel that stability.

00:12:03.649 --> 00:12:06.948
We feel that stillness, we feel that centeredness.

00:12:07.149 --> 00:12:12.379
It's all in the process of resting in the presence of awareness.

00:12:12.499 --> 00:12:18.426
Due to this they experience that joy of being connected to Brahman directly.

00:12:18.635 --> 00:12:22.928
Once you can connect to Brahman directly, you're not gonna look for anything else.

00:12:23.129 --> 00:12:32.385
And immense joy is always experienced in the union with Brahman, the joy is there at all times and is not subject to time and place.

00:12:32.586 --> 00:12:43.902
Now the context of the whole verse is Krishna explains how yogi's experience eternal happiness by removing all duality in between the mind and Brahman.

00:12:44.094 --> 00:12:45.354
Verse 27.

00:12:45.553 --> 00:12:52.864
Ignoring all outer sensory stimulation, focusing intently upon the spot between the eyebrows.

00:12:53.063 --> 00:13:00.610
A yogi breathes with the slow and equal balance between the incoming and outgoing breath as it passes through the nostrils.

00:13:00.644 --> 00:13:05.693
This is a wonderful technique for meditation that Sri Krishna is providing to Arjuna.

00:13:05.894 --> 00:13:07.183
And Let's have a look at this.

00:13:07.291 --> 00:13:10.471
Ignoring all outer sensory stimulation.

00:13:10.671 --> 00:13:17.561
Now this means one, we need to close our eyes, and we need to just close out every sensory activity as much as possible.

00:13:17.711 --> 00:13:21.586
Some may be more difficult than others, but we can close our eyes.

00:13:21.787 --> 00:13:27.517
The other thing we can do is use ear plugs to block out sound in our ears.

00:13:27.697 --> 00:13:41.072
So then what happens is we are not too much focussed on the noise outside, but we focus on the inner sound that may be there and then in terms of the mouth is closed, so there's going to be no tasting going on.

00:13:41.272 --> 00:13:44.772
With the nostrils, the essence of smell can occur.

00:13:44.831 --> 00:13:58.121
Now, in that sense, what we can do is have incense sticks to help neutralize the air, to have that one consistent smell so the mind isn't going, Oh, what's being cooked in the kitchen or, or you can smell coffee.

00:13:58.126 --> 00:14:01.928
You know, anything that will create sensory stimulation.

00:14:02.129 --> 00:14:04.948
Then Sri Krishna talks about breathing slowly.

00:14:05.188 --> 00:14:12.808
Slow breathing meaning when we breathe slowly, actually what we find is thoughts become a lot less frequent.

00:14:12.889 --> 00:14:18.879
So they slow down themselves, and we are able to then just be in the luminous nature of Brahman.

00:14:18.879 --> 00:14:21.969
So that background awareness comes to the forefront.

00:14:22.025 --> 00:14:26.741
And that forefront of awareness is eternal peace and joy.

00:14:26.942 --> 00:14:29.282
And by being slow, thoughts slow down.

00:14:29.491 --> 00:14:35.861
So then when each gap gets bigger of silence, you are focusing more on that Formless.

00:14:35.861 --> 00:14:36.461
Awareness.

00:14:36.461 --> 00:14:44.563
Because remember, you will be observing every sensation, every thought, every emotion, every intention.

00:14:44.764 --> 00:14:48.604
You'll be observing all these things, any memory, any images.

00:14:48.724 --> 00:14:50.703
You'll be observing those things.

00:14:50.903 --> 00:15:00.697
And then Sri Krishna talks about focusing intently upon the spot between the eyebrows or what we call the third eye so we can focus upon there.

00:15:00.726 --> 00:15:08.292
Once we do that, also we are fixing the eyes to be in a particular place, so it's not looking all around the, eyelids.

00:15:08.491 --> 00:15:18.221
So That's also another great way of bringing about focus because the main thing is what Sri Krishna also has to do with Arjuna because of his mental state.

00:15:18.421 --> 00:15:30.714
He understands that with Arjuna he has to give him something to focus upon, by giving him something to focus upon, he can build up his discernment, his strength, and his focus.

00:15:30.894 --> 00:15:44.456
Otherwise, what's going to happen is if Sri Krishna doesn't give him a technique, Arjuna is just going to be falling back into delusion, falling back into that depression, that feeling of being upset about what's going on.

00:15:44.725 --> 00:15:55.163
So Sri Krishna gives a great way to build up focus and attention, and therefore, if he can get Arjuna to do that, Arjuna will fight for the war and not think twice.

00:15:55.312 --> 00:16:00.451
That is the context really of the verse is to give a technique for meditation.

00:16:00.549 --> 00:16:06.580
If you are interested in doing meditation like this, we do do something similar on Saturdays.

00:16:06.580 --> 00:16:08.937
So honestly try and attend if you can.

00:16:09.136 --> 00:16:10.427
Now verse 28.

00:16:10.626 --> 00:16:27.746
When the senses, manas and buddhi are controlled and turned within, when fear, kama and krodha have all disappeared, then the Muni is released from bondage to the impermanent and achieves moksha the Ultimate state of complete freedom.

00:16:27.947 --> 00:16:30.090
Again, we're going to look at the whole verse here.

00:16:30.101 --> 00:16:33.942
So it is a job of every seeker to control our senses.

00:16:34.142 --> 00:16:38.596
We have to observe the senses and see where they go, where do they travel.

00:16:38.806 --> 00:16:45.385
And then when they're traveling, what we can do is divert them back to the Formless Awareness, which is the Atman.

00:16:45.615 --> 00:16:50.346
So the Formless Awareness will be that eternal blank canvas.

00:16:50.546 --> 00:16:56.096
The Manas with its high speed thoughts emerging from more thoughts, needs to be calmed down.

00:16:56.245 --> 00:17:01.755
And that's why the previous verse is so important about the practice because it calms down the Manas.

00:17:01.956 --> 00:17:08.746
And the best way to do this is to observe each thought like clouds passing across the blue sky.

00:17:08.945 --> 00:17:12.961
Any movement within the mind needs to be observed sincerely.

00:17:13.142 --> 00:17:22.138
So like the sky does not get affected by the clouds and what the clouds may possess, how the clouds may be dark or light.

00:17:22.338 --> 00:17:24.558
The sky does not get affected by that.

00:17:24.679 --> 00:17:26.679
There could be a thunderstorm, there could be rain.

00:17:26.878 --> 00:17:28.169
The sky is not affected.

00:17:28.368 --> 00:17:37.781
Likewise, the awareness within you that Formless Awareness is not affected by any thoughts, emotions, sensations, memories, images, nothing.

00:17:37.929 --> 00:17:50.679
The buddhi which is our intellect and is the base of our discernment, we have to constantly make that choice of going to the Formless Awareness instead of going wherever our senses or our Manas wants to go.

00:17:50.749 --> 00:17:58.929
So by turning within, we observe and reveal the vastness and all pervading nature of Nirguna Brahman.

00:17:59.128 --> 00:18:03.528
This brings our mind to a beautiful and natural stillness.

00:18:03.729 --> 00:18:09.875
That's the main beauty, is that there's a natural stillness rather than something that is imposed upon you.

00:18:09.976 --> 00:18:20.375
Now, by constantly turning within as well, we allow all fear, pleasure, and anger to dissolve away from being the initial reactions for our mind.

00:18:20.425 --> 00:18:27.276
So instead of us going to the first thought that happens, we can actually determine what is the best thing to do.

00:18:27.476 --> 00:18:34.046
We can see what has the situation brought, and therefore make a more informed decision on what to do.

00:18:34.162 --> 00:18:38.192
Because if we do not do this, then the mind would just do what it wants.

00:18:38.271 --> 00:18:41.001
It will create havoc and cause harm to others.

00:18:41.001 --> 00:18:43.071
It may even cause suffering to others.

00:18:43.271 --> 00:18:45.842
And not only that, suffering for ourself too.

00:18:46.041 --> 00:18:52.028
So the important thing here is to understand that what's happening is our mind is being slowed.

00:18:52.229 --> 00:18:55.378
Not so, we do not do daily activities as normal.

00:18:55.469 --> 00:19:06.249
We would still do those as normal, but our reactions to situations in life will be more well thought out and there'll be more transparency and sincerity in our approach.

00:19:06.449 --> 00:19:11.749
Now, the muni or the rishi is no longer held in captive to the impermanent.

00:19:11.949 --> 00:19:15.848
The impermanent is our body and mind and these are Asat.

00:19:16.078 --> 00:19:20.787
Even our Jiva is asat because there's no such thing as the individual.

00:19:20.821 --> 00:19:27.469
There is only Brahman, therefore, all those previous things are constantly changing, they are not real.

00:19:27.669 --> 00:19:30.788
Anger is not real because one time you're angry, then you're not.

00:19:30.818 --> 00:19:33.243
And there's different and varying degrees of anger.

00:19:33.443 --> 00:19:41.710
Same thing with kama with pleasure, same thing, different degrees of it, and therefore constantly changing, appearing and disappearing.

00:19:41.747 --> 00:19:42.856
Same thing with fear.

00:19:43.037 --> 00:19:49.747
Sometimes we are fearless, sometimes we have fear about something, and that fear then makes us react in a certain way.

00:19:49.946 --> 00:19:54.676
We have to understand that the permanent, which is Brahman, does not change at all.

00:19:54.876 --> 00:19:56.527
It is always the observer.

00:19:56.737 --> 00:20:04.477
The observer continuously watches whatever occurs within the mind and does not get affected by what is observed.

00:20:04.676 --> 00:20:16.940
By understanding what our essential nature is, which is the permanent Atman, the changeless, we achieve the sacred understanding and now are mukt, are free, are liberated.

00:20:17.140 --> 00:20:20.557
We achieve that Ultimate state of complete freedom.

00:20:20.606 --> 00:20:24.673
This is what we are all looking for in life, in freedom, there is peace.

00:20:24.703 --> 00:20:26.564
In freedom, there is joy.

00:20:26.763 --> 00:20:28.713
In freedom, there is love.

00:20:28.809 --> 00:20:30.809
In freedom, there is happiness.

00:20:30.990 --> 00:20:32.910
In freedom, there is bliss.

00:20:33.150 --> 00:20:35.339
In freedom, there is acceptance.

00:20:35.490 --> 00:20:37.559
In freedom, there is gratitude.

00:20:37.759 --> 00:20:50.833
That is the purpose of having that freedom because these are the qualities that that brings along, and that's the qualities that will be the appearance on this earth because right now we have a body in mind.

00:20:51.012 --> 00:20:53.252
Therefore, that will be the representation.

00:20:53.452 --> 00:21:05.729
The context of the whole verse is Sri Krishna gives us the path of true renunciation that we can complete as a householder by turning within in the midst of activity, we can attain freedom.

00:21:05.929 --> 00:21:07.231
Now, verse 29.

00:21:07.432 --> 00:21:30.118
One who experiences Me as the eater of what is offered in a yajna; one who feels Me as the fire in the body that burns away impurities while performing tapasya; one who sees Me as the ultimate ruler of all the planets in the universe, and one who knows Me as the one who is seated in the heart of all living entities, desiring only what is best for them.

00:21:30.318 --> 00:21:36.701
That person finally reaches Me and achieves the delightful and harmonious state of Shanti.

00:21:36.705 --> 00:21:38.266
Let's break down this verse.

00:21:38.339 --> 00:21:54.333
One who experiences Me as the eater of what is offered in the yajna; one who feels Me as the fire of the body that burns away impurities while performing tapasya; one who sees Me as the ultimate ruler of all the planets in the universe.

00:21:54.369 --> 00:22:00.701
In this first part, The most important point I will make here is that Sri Krishna is not on about himself.

00:22:00.901 --> 00:22:08.431
Whenever someone comments on my social media clips, they really fail to understand what Sri Krishna is referring to as 'Me'.

00:22:08.631 --> 00:22:23.367
Now I say this countless of times, I've even said this today, right now in this episode, and I will continue to do so that Sri Krishna is speaking from the point of view of Nirguna Brahman, as that Permanent Formless Awareness.

00:22:23.567 --> 00:22:30.038
Now why isn't Sri Krishna speaking as himself here is for a number of common sense reasons.

00:22:30.238 --> 00:22:37.645
One, Sri Krishna is now a Guru for Arjuna As this was what Arjuna requested when he surrendered , at Sri Krishna's feet.

00:22:37.846 --> 00:22:41.849
Now, Sri Krishna also talks about the difference between Sat and Asat.

00:22:41.923 --> 00:22:47.383
Sri Krishna obviously has a form when he's talking to Arjuna and helping Arjuna in this battle.

00:22:47.583 --> 00:22:55.792
But the form of Sri Krishna is obviously asat because that form will die eventually, which we know occurs.

00:22:56.042 --> 00:23:00.730
We know that Sri Krishna does die from being pierced on the foot with an arrow.

00:23:00.931 --> 00:23:10.455
Now as true Krishna knows the Ultimate Reality and is teaching the highest wisdom, and he knows who he is and what he is, which is this Brahm Gyana.

00:23:10.655 --> 00:23:15.296
Then this implies he's speaking from the point of view of Sat, of Brahman.

00:23:15.496 --> 00:23:16.695
Now what is Sat?

00:23:16.895 --> 00:23:24.215
This Brahman because it is Nameless, Formless, Colorless, Changeless, and beyond all attributes that we can think of.

00:23:24.415 --> 00:23:30.435
When we understand Brahman directly the experience, we do not need any words to describe it.

00:23:30.465 --> 00:23:33.855
We don't need a single sound to describe it.

00:23:34.056 --> 00:23:42.556
It is what it is, and that's the most important thing, and that is Sri Krishna when he's speaking to Arjuna right now in the Bhagavad Gita.

00:23:42.756 --> 00:23:51.099
Now let's understand this part of the verse, which is really simple and straightforward, but again, it's another practice that we can do within our mind.

00:23:51.349 --> 00:23:55.670
We can understand that it is Brahman that eats all that is offered in the yajna.

00:23:55.869 --> 00:24:03.180
The items that are offered in gratitude to nature, both nature appreciates it and Brahman partake in it.

00:24:03.420 --> 00:24:04.829
That's the way we can see it.

00:24:05.029 --> 00:24:11.309
Now, tapasya is any austerity we do, and when we do this, we may do it with great intensity.

00:24:11.509 --> 00:24:26.113
Now, just like the stomach with acid creates waste through food that is taken, likewise, the heat of austerity, the intensity of practice, of sadhana burns away the impurities of the mind as long as we focus on Brahman.

00:24:26.175 --> 00:24:32.690
When one understands that it is because of Brahman, because of Consciousness, Maya is manifested.

00:24:32.890 --> 00:24:35.769
We understand the supremacy straight away.

00:24:35.970 --> 00:24:45.960
All of existence is ruled by Brahman, who is a silent ruler that observes but does not amend or change any of the natural laws.

00:24:46.160 --> 00:25:00.835
Then the second part, and one who knows me as the one who is seated in the heart of all living entities, desiring only what is best for them, that person finally reaches me and achieves the delightful and harmonious state of shanti.

00:25:01.035 --> 00:25:10.785
When one understands that every heart is connected by this one Brahman, and with that intention, we only want what is best for that person.

00:25:11.025 --> 00:25:17.555
That's all we desire, that the best happens, that everybody is prosperous, everybody is successful.

00:25:17.755 --> 00:25:20.575
We do not wish for ill upon anybody.

00:25:20.775 --> 00:25:25.484
This person will always reach union with Brahman and is blessed with eternal peace.

00:25:25.684 --> 00:25:35.775
People think that death brings peace, as we say rest in peace whenever somebody dies, but the sage is in eternal peace in the present moment itself.

00:25:35.974 --> 00:25:38.644
This piece is full of delight and joy.

00:25:38.845 --> 00:25:42.414
It is a peace that unifies and never seeks to divide.

00:25:42.615 --> 00:25:51.214
Therefore, anyone who claims to be a follower of Sri Krishna or the Bhagavad Gita will always go for harmony over divisiveness.

00:25:51.305 --> 00:25:57.198
Now, someone may say, but what about if you disagree with somebody or you disagree with a belief?

00:25:57.397 --> 00:26:01.005
You can disagree, you don't have to abandon harmony.

00:26:01.204 --> 00:26:06.654
You can still be established in Brahman and maintain a courteous disagreement.

00:26:06.724 --> 00:26:12.164
The one thing that we need to understand this, we only want to wish the best for others.

00:26:12.404 --> 00:26:13.815
We never want to wish ill.

00:26:13.934 --> 00:26:19.785
This is something very important because remember, if somebody else suffer, I am suffering too.

00:26:19.984 --> 00:26:26.901
So our happiness we want others to feel that happiness and we want to invoke that happiness within them.

00:26:27.101 --> 00:26:37.516
The context of the whole verse is that Sri Krishna is instructing that we must find that Brahman is everywhere and in everything, every action is in Brahman.

00:26:37.605 --> 00:26:39.915
Every thought and intention is in Brahman.

00:26:39.940 --> 00:26:44.246
Therefore, wherever there is Brahman, there is peace and harmony.

00:26:44.425 --> 00:26:48.049
Whenever we are in that awareness, there is peace and harmony.

00:26:48.299 --> 00:26:53.170
Whenever we are in that awareness, we are in joy and love and compassion.

00:26:53.369 --> 00:26:57.930
Wherever there is peace and harmony, joy and prosperity will always follow.

00:26:58.130 --> 00:27:06.230
And that's why we seek to always be in peace and harmony because we want joy and prosperity to be in everybody's home.

00:27:06.303 --> 00:27:22.613
And I pray here that may every seeker of spirituality who wants mukti, gets peace, joy, and prosperity in their material life so that their spiritual life is full of that spiritual wisdom and spiritual discernment.

00:27:22.823 --> 00:27:31.076
And most of all, they are constantly in union and in oneness with Nirguna Brahman, with the Formless Awareness.

00:27:31.276 --> 00:27:38.405
And that is the end of the episode, along with the end of the fifth chapter of the Bhagavad Gita.
